Hi All,
I'm still very much in the early stages of learning clawhammer banjo and i'm really enjoying the journey so far. However, i was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding the best way to practice. At the moment i'm working my way through Ken Perlman's book and occasionally downloading some tabs from either this site, EZFolk or Mike Iverson's website. Whenever i pick up my banjo i work away at a particular song until i've got it nailed (sort of). That seems to be my practice strategy at the moment, just working away at a specific song. I'm just starting to play songs using drop thumbing now as well. Are there some exercises for, say drop thumbing (there are a few in Ken's book) or other necessary techniques, or perhaps theory based lessons, maybe ear training people might recommend that might make my practice sessions a bit more effective?
Thanks
Dave
