The player on this acetate recording, made about 1940 in Sheridan, Michigan, accompanies a fiddler playing a medley of "Rakes of Mallow" and other tunes.
I don't know anything more about the players, other than they were elderly at the time. Another one they recorded was "Preacher and the Bear," so I suspect he had done some minstrel show stuff.

I suppose it's "up picking," but any similar comparisons would be interesting. There isn't much rural Northern 5-string banjo recorded.
