Hi guys and gals.Happy holidays!!! I just received my restored Orpheum banjo back from having the neck built and set up by Gary Schattl (thanks Gary!! it sounds great!). I am having a ball playing with it and trying to get a clean basic bum ditty CH sound . Its not nearly as easy as I thought it would be and just feels weird using only the back of a finger and only downstroking! I am a novice guitar player and have never really tried finger picking before so i have just been experimenting and trying to get different melodic sounds out of her. I dont want to fall into bad habits and realize that its important to get the basics down no matter what style i gravitate towards but now im wondering which style im going to pursue. I would think that its better to stick with one style while learning the basics than bounce around. Im looking for some basic advice here. Im probably going to want to play both 2 finger and clawhammer at some point.I love the sound of both!! Not sure where or what i should start with, claw hammer or two finger??...................I also would like some advice on the easiest way to record and post a sound bite of my playin here in the near future for advice. Thanks,Mike
