Okay, so I am brand new to the banjo, so I have a couple of very likely dumb questions.
I see a lot of info online about 5 string, tenor and plectrum banjos and how they are used. I have a 5 string banjo with a resonator & back. If I were to take the pot off, would that make my banjo an open backed "old-time" banjo... or playable as one? If I took of the 5th string off, could I play it like a 1920s plectrum, dixieland or George Van Eps style banjo?
