I'm having doubts about whether it's wise to play melody in a song(except for instrumental breaks). I've tried to cultivate that habit, and now I can't figure out how to break the habit. I think playing the melody, pretty much note for note, as you sing can get boring rather quickly. I used to think it was the way to go, that's why I went to the trouble of trying to make it my "natural" way of playing; But now, I'm starting to think strumming chords to accompany the actual singing is better. That emphasizes the voice, and the instrumental breaks are emphasized by the melodic playing of the banjo. What do you think?
