I'm taking an online class in intro to design of sound. Today, one of the lectures covered something called mobile orchestras, whereby performers in an orchestra can perform via a distributed network -- they can be scattered all over the world, but play as one coherent group. Isn't this applicable to jamming? If, for example, 4 or 5 people on BHO wanted to jam, why couldn't they do it just as these mobile orchestras do? Or, maybe I'd like to take lessons from ClawDan. I know he does this on the network, by means of ( I think ) Skype. Back when I was taking face-to-face lessons, a big part of the lessons was my instructor and I playing music together. Why couldn't the same thing be done over the internet, or is it done?
Anyone have any experience with that kind of thing? If so, how did it work out?
