I've been practicing Sugar Hill diligently for weeks now. It's been a great tune for me to apply the drop-thumb tips given here recently in another thread. I think I've made some serious breakthroughs, and I thank all those who gave encouragement and advice.
So, now I'm playing along with the tracks on Old Time Jam. I'm getting there, BUT, the version used on OTJ has a G for the IV chord. It just appears once in both the A and B parts. But, I'm sure the notes I've learned to play in the melody make up Bm (I think). I can hear something wrong there. Every tab version I can find with the chords shown, show that G, but the melody seems to be pretty much the same as mine.
I can easily change my melody version to use the major (moving one finger from the second fret, first string, to the third fret.) It sounds different, but not bad. I could get used to it. I live out in the sticks, and won't likely be playing with many other people, but I would like to know what other folks do here.
If it matters, I learned my version of SH from David Holt's video.
