I'm trying to decide whether to attend Old Time Week at Mars Hill or the Swannanoa Gathering next summer. I've heard good things about both. By then I'll have about 6 months' banjo experience, but I have experience with rhythm guitar and some noodling on other instruments, which I suppose is helpful -- my banjo teacher said some very nice things about how quickly I pick up (evidently it's unusual for him to teach an entire tune in the student's first lesson).
I'm leaning towards Mars Hill, thinking I might be ready for a late-beginner course, and maybe a string band workshop just for fun. But I thought I'd see if anyone here has experience with either or both camps before making a decision.
