Hello everyone. I'm brand-new to the banjo; I've been playing for about two weeks, and am self-educating with the help of online videos, etc.
I have been able to adapt Scruggs=style picking pretty easily due to my experience with guitar, and have gotten the clawhammer strum down pretty well at slow speeds, but I'm confused about how to use this style with chords like F and D because the G drone string is incorporated in the 'BUM-DITTY' pattern, but the G note clashes with an F chord or others like it. I'm guessing the clawhammer strum is modified for these chords and the G drone is not struck for them?
How does one play these chords in the clawhammer strum? Thanks so much!
