Ok here's the deal: I'm a very beginner, can't read music, don't play any instruments other than banjo (started in November). I am trying to practice with a somewhat novice guitar player. Our musical interests intersect with Neil Young, James Taylor, CSNY, CCR, etc. A lot of songs from this era I can most definitely HEAR in my head, but I have no idea how to figure out how to play them.
I've seen some good resources, like Mike Iverson's page, and they help some. And I know I can request TAB from other players here on the hangout...but I really think figuring it out on my own would go a long way toward helping me learn how to play.
So how would I do that? Where would I even begin? Is this a ridiculous endeavor for someone who really doesn't know music yet? I'm trying to puzzle out a method and need some help.
