I've been trying and trying to get the tuning down for this tune ( link below). I tried GCGCC ( 5 to 1), and someone suggested ECGCC, which sounded more like the playing below. But I do believe this guy (Peter Stampfel) is using CCGCC. Sounds too good to be true, 4 strings tuned to C, but have a listen to just his intro, and listen to the first 6 notes particularly. I thought he was getting that by playing 1-5-1-5-1-5 in ECGCC, , but I think he's playing it in CCGCC, with 1st string fretted at 4th fret. I'd appreciate it if you'd see if I'm right. I try it myself, and I'd swear it sounds very good in CCGCC, but I wouldn't even dare to put my playing up against that of Mr. Stampfel, and show my blatant lack of skill --- He's the one banjo player I'd unabashably imitate note-for-note, if I had nearly his talent. Thanks for any confirmations of the CCGCC tuning, or suggested changes.
