The Swimming Song (McGarrigle Sisters)

For a wonderful frailing and vocal duet of Loudin Wainwright III's "The Swimming Song"  click on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4ZrBxJHxo0 (I think Kate was married to LW-III at the time.)  It's a modern song that has the sound and spirit of old time music, and Kate & Anna's simple, effective arrangement captures everything I love about frailed banjo.

I can't resist telling this story.  After I played this for my 15 year old granddaughter, Payton, for the first time, I asked her what she thought of it.  She said, "I like it... but it's kind of random."  When I asked her what she meant, she said, "Well, most of your songs are stories about about people, or animals, or events or important things; but this one is just about swimming."  I loved the description, so now I introduce this as just a random song about swimming.
