My son wants to learn CH banjo. Trouble is, he's left-handed. I gave him a right-handed banjo to practice with, and advised him that he'd be best off to learn to play right-handed. Now I'm wondering. He's been trying to learn the simple bum-ditty for about 3 or 4 weeks and not making much progress at all. I suppose he could get a left-handed banjo, and try it left-handed, but it seems to me that if he ever wanted to take lessons from an instructor ( which will probably be the case), he'd be at a disadvantage by "playing backwards" from what his instructor would be playing.
I'd be interested in some of you folks' opinions, please, and thanks in advance.
