Clawhammer tune advice for Scruggs player

Good morning,

I am an aspiring Scruggs player- but have been given a piece of music in Double C and is obviously a Clawhammer tune.   Is there a way to get through this - for the time being- that would not confuse me as a Scruggs style and still make this piece sound fairly decent?

Almost to the point of using a flat pick (aghast sigh) ..  need your advice. .
