Double E Flat Tuning?

I have been asked to play at a funeral with piano accompaniment.  The song is Just a Rose will do by J A McClung.  I can play the song easy enough but I wanted your opinion on tuning up a half step above double d.  I know I can use a capo but I hardly ever do and find I am much more comfortable playing without one.  Will I damage the neck if I go up that high?

I am playing on a Pisgah banjo.
