I'm from Europe and I don't know anyone here who knows anything about traditional American folksongs like the ones you learn when you start playing the banjo. I like appalachian fiddletunes as well as bluegrass classics or blues. Just anything of this oldtime-stuff. All I know about this music I know from youtube and banjotutorials. Alan Lomax, Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger got me into this kind of music and playing the oldtime-banjo. But my knowledge is small and I'm looking for compilation albums or playlists of the must-know artists, songs and versions to expand my knowledge.
