i have a Ramsey 11" standard and it seems to be a very solid and steel reinforced neck. Lately it seems like 90% or more of the tunes i play are in A, A modal or D and it seems to me kind of weird having a capo on my banjo as my default way of playing. It sounds pretty good with medium gauge strings capoed at the 2nd but it is just weird as a default setup. i put light gauge strings on it, first i put strings on it the same gauge that Adam Hurt uses on his Enoch and hated it and have gone a fair bit heavier and it still sounds kind of flimsy to me. Anybody have any experience in this? i really don't know how you guys play on nylon strings in low tunings not that i like that sound anyhow i just don't like my strings flapping around a lot. So please no advice about switching to nylon.
