Ok. I'm thinkin' I wanna put a skin head on a banjo that's now set up with a renaissance.
I've seen the BEAUTIFUL calf skin heads installed by Jason Romero and others... and think that's what I'd like for both appearance AND voice, but I've not yet installed one before. And I know it's a pain in the a**.
Yah yah there are "how to" videos and instructions all over the web, but I'm seriously considering the "lazy man's" option first... buying a pre-stretched Gold Tone skin head and tryin' that out.
So here's my question:
1 - Is there a TANGIBLE difference in sound (as in "it's worth the extra effort") between the pre-stretched and the DIY skin heads?
