Greetings - I'm a newbie getting used to playing on Nylgut strings on my basic open back banjo, and learning what I can do with my picks. I realize many folks prefer not to use picks on Nylguts for an open back, but I prefer to use them. Also, they allow me to quickly switch to bluegrass style. I'm learning bluegrass style, but also like the style as I've described in the captions below the photos - I'm not sure what style that is, though, is it clawhammer style, only with picks? I've just starting going through "The How and Tao of Old-Time Banjo", and really like the clear instruction style of that document. I'm going through the instructions, but playing using my picks below and using slightly different striking techniques. Any insight would be welcome.
