There may be a better name for it, but after having played around with it,, I doubt theres a better tuning. Ive learned or am learning Spotted Pony, osldiers joy Boneparte Crossing Rhine, shaving a dead.fella a something I forgot ,, I also seems to lend itself well to improv/noodling on your lonesome.
If anybody has been wary about straying from "standard g" I would highly recommendtying double C , or whatever you call it. I think you will quickly find it fun. and no , you dont always need at tuner at hand, to tune banjo to itself only requires shiftin down a fret on 3 and up 1 on 2
