Hi and thanks for taking a minute to offer advice! I have fallen in love with Clawhammer playing but have quite the dilemma. I lead worship at my church sometimes and these days, most contemporary services are headed up by guitar. I would like some advice and suggestions on how I could start using my banjo as my main rhythm instrument rather than guitar, in a tasteful fashion. I would like to fit it into contemporary tunes, and play old hymns too.
Another related question I have is when I'm not playing the melody of an old time tune and am singing it instead, do I just comp chords on the bum-ditty? Or are there other neat things I can do?
And heck, while we're at it. Does anyone know where I can find some good wedding tunes written for clawhammer? I've been asked to play a wedding in October. Glad I plenty of time to get ready!
