Choosing between two tunings for the same song

I'd like to learn "Man of Constant Sorrow" and downloaded the two clawhammer tabs from the archives for this tune.  One in Sawmill and the other in Double C.  I've been listening to the two versions trying to decide which one to learn.  I think I prefer the Double C version but it looks like the Sawmill version might be easier for a newbie.

I've been learning the banjo for 8 months and it seems like, for a beginner, learning one tuning is what I should do.  I think the Double C version is a bit more difficult and there is one section that's a puzzle to me.

If someone could explain which fingers to use on the slide, double fifth fret on strings 2 &3 and the pull off, that would be great as that's my major stubling block.

I'm leaning towards the Sawmill version as it seems like it would be easier.

Thanks, Bob
