Uncommon strumming/picking patterns

I'm interested in hearing about non-traditional (or uncommon) strumming and picking patterns people use.

I just came up with one while trying to emulate the split-stroke played on uke (I don't play uke, so I could be butchering the term).

Downstroke strum on all strings - up-pick on 1st string - thumb on 5th

It's kind of like a mixed up, sped up Seeger style. All these are eighth notes, so if you were playing a 4-beat measure the pattern could be something like:

strum - up - thumb - strum - up - thumb - strum - up

or

up - strum - thumb - up - strum - up - strum - thumb

I'm not very good at it yet, but it's been fun to work on something new. I've pretty much exclusively downpicked until now, and it's cool to see how throwing in some up-picking can give me some more options (hope my nails stand up to the abuse).

Hope to see some patterns that other people use.
