Months ago I bought "How to Play the 5-String Banjo", but I'm just learning so I couldn't really make much use for it. These holidays I decided to give it another look.
I started with the first tunes but (as I said) I'm still trying to manage frailing and have no time to learn another style now. The thing is that instead of using Seeger's "index finger up plucking" I just tried the tunes in basic clawhammer -I mean the ones that come in the first chapters, not in the "frailing" section-. To me, they worked just fine and I'm having a lot of fun using the book. The only problem is that I don't have much reference on how his tunes are supposed to sound in order to compare.
Anyway, this is not so much a question post, but I thought it might be interesting for other frailers that have used the book (must be a lot, since this is such a legendary publication) to share their experiences with it.
