Just thought I would drop a quick hello. Been lurking around for a bit. Today, however, my Deering Goodtime arrived on my doorstep and I officially became a 42 year old banjo student. Downloaded my copy of Rocket Science Banjo and have been building a list of online stuff that I have seen and that seems like it would be helpful. This is my first real attempt at playing anything (a brief and ill-fated stint in a piano class in college hardly counts.) I am draw to the CH/Old-time sound rather than the BG side of the house.
I am going to start off (for the moment) trying it on my own but I would like to also find a local teacher that I can turn to if (when) I get hung up. One would thing being in NC that Charlotte would have banjo teacher on every street corner but they seem to be somewhat few and far between so any guidance would be welcomed.
Again, just wanted to introduce myself and throw a thanks out already to the great resource that the site is for us beginners.
