Howdy,
I picked up a fretless banjo yesterday; a Ramsey Woody custom with nylgut strings. I did replace the 5/8 bridge with a 3/4 to give a bit more sharpness to the string sound.
I find it very enjoyable to play; the strings give it an old-timey sound and I really like the feel of the neck, especially on slides (duh). The tones are a bit off, as I'm not as precise as with frets, but that actually kind of adds to the sound....(though playing with better intonation is most definitely an objective).
I had read many viewpoints, pro and con with playing fretless...I'd like to be sure my vote is added to the "yea" column.
