I can't seem to settle on a single way of playing. I'll try clawhammer for a while, thinking "this is it", then after a while I'll be playing 2 finger index lead, then thumb lead, then clawhammer again, each time thinking "this is it".
Being multi-lingual ( musically speaking ) may be ok for a young guy, but I'm 80, and I probably don't have the time left to become competent at just one style, let alone 4 or 5. Did anyone else go though this, and if so, at what point did you finally settle down to one style of playing? My problem seems to be that after playing one way for a while, some other style will start to sound better to me. Is it a matter of self-discipline or what?
I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have, even if it's "take up the trombone" or something similar.
